Flowing - Sticky - Homeless
During my foundation course at Central Saint Martins, we did a small project called ‘Three Obstructions’. Every morning upon coming to the studio, we picked 3 words randomly, and we had to complete a piece with those three words until the next day.
For my first challenge, I picked the words ‘Flowing, Sticky and Homeless’.
I made a metallic funnel with sheets and rods of steel, which did not function, but acted as a symbol of a tool sending out ‘flowing’ messages.
Then I made phrases with ‘sticky’ cooked porridge, the words that I wanted to send out to people who feel isolated from the rest of the world.
I thought the newspapers are what the homeless people could get a hold of, and oatmeal is what they are in need of.
